Dungannon Golf Club

Dungannon Golf Club was founded in 1890. Shortly afterwards with eight others, it founded the Golfing Union of Ireland. The club moved to its present location in 1954. In 1964 the course was extended to 18 holes. The current clubhouse was opened by Darren Clarke in 2000. In 2019 the Dungannon Golf Club won the award for the the Best Golf Club in Northern Ireland. ​

​Course

From humble beginnings, the course has developed  into one of the best courses in Tyrone and Mid-Ulster with stunning views across the undulating countryside of Tyrone.
The 18 hole Par 72 course had an extensive upgrade in 2007 directed by Patrick Merrigan and Darren Clarke and measures 5871 yards for Men and 5422 yards for Ladies.
Substantial improvements to the course have been made recently upgrading bunkering. Further improvements are planned.

Women in Golf

Dungannon Golf Club was one of the first golf clubs in Ireland to sign up to the R&A Women in Golf Charter and led the way in having a woman as President and as Club Captain.

Past Champions

DARREN CLARKE

Darren is one of the most recognisable faces in sport. He has won multiple tournaments worldwide. His biggest victory came when he won the 2011 Open Championship at Royal St George’s.  Darren played in six Ryder Cup matches and also was the Captain in 2016. In 2022 he won The Senior Open.

CAROLE McGAHAN (NEE WALLACE)

First person ever to win The Ulster, Irish and British Girls Championship in the same year – 1968. Daughter of Pat Wallace, Dungannon’s first Professional. Her Uncle, Bob Wallace had none other than Christy O’Connor Snr as his Assistant at Galway and her other Uncle, Leo, was Irish Professional Champion in 1928.

Winner of the Ulster Boys Amateur Open Championship at Balmoral Golf Club, Belfast IN 2012.

DAVID WHITE and PATRICK McNAMEE

DAVID WHITE and PATRICK McNAMEE have etched their names in The Guinness Book of World Records competing a marathon session of golf, playing ten rounds – 180 holes in all – round the Dungannon course  for the most played in a 24 hour spell.
